Introduction
Occupying a beautiful 52-acre site in the Berkshire countryside, Lambrook is an independent day and boarding Prep School that caters for a mixed cohort. It boasts a rich history, having educated two of Queen Victoria’s grandsons. Its alumni list also includes a Nobel Prize-winning economist, an esteemed theatre producer, the founder of Bentley Motors Limited and several army officers. [1]
At Lambrook, dedicated staff ensure that the curriculum is extensively explored by each pupil on campus. Excelling in the areas of languages, technology, humanities, sciences, maths and the arts, the school’s leavers access some of the most prestigious senior schools nationally, such as Brighton, Bryanston, Wycombe Abbey and Rugby.
The co-curricular programme is both relevant and extensive, providing children with opportunities to cultivate a diverse set of skills for the benefit of their future endeavours. This well-rounded approach ensures that students not only excel academically but also develop holistically, gaining valuable experiences that contribute to their long-term growth.
The available activities include beekeeping, farming, chess, fencing, judo, scuba diving, film making, Mini Masterchef, rugby, tap dance, debating, hockey and public speaking. Within the scope of the co-curricular programme, Lambrook also organises trips and expeditions to destinations like South Africa, Italy and Sweden. [2]
Fun fact: Sports are the highlight of school life at Lambrook. The setting comprises an array of sporting facilities to meet pupils’ sporting interests, including a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, several squash and tennis courts, a nine-hole golf course, netball and hockey pitches, a modern sports hall and well-kept cricket squares.

Lambrook School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
A registration form can be accessed through this page and should be submitted with a £200 non-refundable fee upon completion. This marks the first step in the admissions process, which also includes formal assessments, a team-building exercise and an interview with the Head. A reference and reports from your child’s current school will be reviewed as part of the admissions process.
To accept an offer, you will be required to pay an acceptance deposit. This deposit is equivalent to half of a term’s fees and serves as a confirmation of your commitment to enrol your child.
Lambrook School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Lambrook offers two types of bursaries:
⦾ Full Bursaries
Lambrook maintains formal links with the Royal Springboard organisation, through which it identifies 11+ applicants who would really flourish at the school. The value of the award is 140%, covering not only the fees but also expenses for uniform, transport, clubs and trips. Royal Springboard also aim to ensure that these pupils have a fully funded place at a senior school after they leave Lambrook.
⦾ General Bursaries
General bursaries are available to pupils from low-income families, who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to benefit from Lambrook’s education. These are allocated after a thorough assessment of the household’s finances, also known as a means test, which is conducted by an independent company. Please note that the means test takes place early in the admissions journey.
Lambrook School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Lambrook School 11+ exam consists of the following papers:

⦾ Mathematics
⦾ Non-Verbal Reasoning
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The Maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper will include questions on numbers, measurements, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning paper measures your child’s ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
