Introduction

A selective boys’ grammar in High Wycombe, John Hampden Grammar School (JHGS) was founded in 1893. Its campus is home to first-class facilities for sports, arts and technology, including a new building named ‘Innovation Hub’. [1]

Academically, JHGS delivers a diverse offering. Boys study modern languages, mathematics, business, social sciences and many other subject areas, growing in a comprehensive understanding of their own learning abilities and intellectual capacity.

Non-academically, the school provides a wealth of opportunities for all-round development. Everything from drama and choir to Design Club and Genealogical Society is on offer, ensuring that boys’ educational journey is as memorable as it is beneficial. [2]

The school’s ethos centers on kindness, independence, resilience and ambition, encouraging students to strive for knowledge and meet challenges head-on. In line with the JHGS motto Quit Ye Like Men, boys develop resourcefulness and self-awareness, upholding high standards of behaviour even in the face of difficulty. [3]
