Lichfield Cathedral School is an independent day school in Lichfield, Staffordshire. Dating back to the 14th century, it is noted for its strong tradition in music, as it was originally founded to provide education to choristers of the cathedral.

To introduce prospective families to life on campus, the school holds Open Events. Secondary Education Open Event takes place in September, while Senior Open Morning is held the following month. These typically consist of guided tours of facilities and informal meetings with staff members. Booking is made through the Admissions Office.
Lichfield Cathedral School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
To enter Year 7, your child will be asked to sit assessments and attend an interview. Reports from their current school will be requested.
On assessment day, applicants will also take part in two workshops, one for maths and one for science. In this way, the school assesses pupils’ ability to work in a group.
The registration fee is £50. On acceptance of a place, you will be asked to pay a non-refundable admissions fee of £100 and a deposit of £350, refundable during your child’s last term at the school.
Lichfield Cathedral School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
A limited number of scholarships are offered to 11+ applicants. They are awarded as a recognition of Academic, Music, Art, Drama and Sporting excellence and are valued at up to 10% of fees. Scholars can hold two awards simultaneously, but these will not exceed a 20% deduction of fees.
Academic Scholarships are offered to candidates who have excelled throughout the 11+ admissions process. Music Scholarships are awarded following an audition and interview with the Head of Music, while Art Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a portfolio and practical assessment.
Drama Scholarships are available to applicants with outstanding performance or theatre production skills, as demonstrated in a workshop session and interview. Sports Scholarships are awarded as a recognition of outstanding sporting abilities. Applicants will be asked to attend an interview and submit a portfolio as evidence of their sporting successes.
Means-tested bursaries are offered to families who struggle with paying the fees and they can be valued at up to 100% of fees. Bursary applications must be submitted by the deadline in February of the year preceding entry in order to be considered. Lichfield Cathedral School 11+ exam consists of the following assessments:
- English (spelling and grammar)
- Mathematics (problem-solving and arithmetics)
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and grammar. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper will include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
