Open Events for St Teresa’s School, Effingham, 11 Plus (11+) Entry
Open Days are held twice a year, allowing you and your child to experience the atmosphere on campus, learn more about the school’s ethos and meet key members of staff.
Individual tours, including a meeting with the Headmistress, can also be arranged.
Upon accepting an offer of a place, girls are invited to attend Induction Day I in late June/early July, during which they have the chance to meet with the Head of Year and Form Tutors and take a few Year 7 lessons.

To be considered for Year 7 entry, your daughter should be registered with the school before the deadline in late October of the year preceding entry. The registration form should be submitted along with a non-refundable registration fee.
The 11+ exam will take place in early January prior to the September entry. There may also be an interview with a senior staff member.
Candidates should bring along a pen, a pencil, an eraser, a pencil sharpener, a protractor, a 30cm ruler and a bottle of still water. They should also be wearing their current school uniform.

St Teresa’s School, Effingham, 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
The school offers Scholarships in the areas of Academic Ability, Art, Drama, Music or Sports, subject to availability. Academic Scholarships are awarded on the basis of performance in the 11+ exam. Scholarship Assessments for the other subject areas are taken in early January.
Art Scholarships are awarded to candidates with strong innate drawing skills and a clear passion for the subject. The school will request sketchbooks with observational drawings instead of a portfolio.
Drama Scholarships are awarded on the basis of participation in a group workshop, followed by an individual audition. Candidates who have experience in Dance and/or Musical Theatre will be expected to perform a 1-minute dance and/or a verse and chorus of a Musical Theatre piece.
Sports Scholarships are offered to applicants with proof of a strong ability and potential in sports, which must include at least one of the following: hockey, netball, swimming, athletics and cross country. Click here for more details.

The St Teresa’s School 11+ exam consists of the following tests:
- English (70 mins)
- Mathematics (50 mins)
- Verbal Reasoning (45 mins)
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your daughter’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The Verbal Reasoning paper is designed to test and assess her logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
