Introduction

 

Holme Grange is an independent co-educational day school in rural Wokingham, Berkshire. Founded in 1945, the school occupies a beautiful Grade II Listed building, built in 1883 by Norman Shaw.

 

The Senior School (known as Eaton Grange) curriculum falls into the following categories: English, Maths, Science, Computing & ICT, Languages, Humanities, The Arts and Sport.

 

The school operates a House system, consisting of four Houses named after rivers: Thames, Trent, Severn and Kennet. A number of Inter-House competitions take place throughout the academic year, along with fundraising events, encouraging pupils to think of others and act as positive global citizens.

 

The school encourages achievement within an environment that stimulates intellectual curiosity and values the individual. Eaton Grange School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

 

Admission to Eaton Grange in Year 7 is subject to performance in entrance examinations. Admissions Day is held in January of Year 6 and, besides exams, it also includes group interviews and activities. 

 

The registration deadline is in the preceding November. Please note that registration includes a payment of a £200 fee, which is non-refundable. The acceptance deposit amounts to £300.

 

Eaton Grange School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

 

The school awards Academic, Sport, Art, Drama and Music Scholarships on the grounds of outstanding performance in competitive examinations and assessments. Scholars are expected to make a significant contribution to the school. 

 

Means-tested bursaries can be awarded solely or in combination with a scholarship. They are available to children from low-income families and can be applied for at any time during the year preceding entry. 

 

Bursary places are awarded on the basis of financial need and typically cover a part of the fees. Please note that, as part of the application procedure, your financial details, including capital and current income, will be thoroughly evaluated.

 

Eaton Grange School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format

 

The Eaton Grange School 11+ entrance examination consists of:

 

• Online test – CEM Select
• English – Writing task

 

The online CEM Select test examines your child’s skills in Verbal Reasoning (English), Non-Verbal Reasoning and Numerical Reasoning (maths).

 

The English paper examines writing skills, including spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
