Brighton College Preparatory School is an independent preparatory school in Brighton and is the junior section of Brighton College. Brighton College Prep School 9 Plus (9+) Admissions
9+ is not a standard entry point to the school. If occasional 9+ places become available, your child will be formally assessed prior to entry. The exam typically takes place in January of Year 4.
In the initial stages of the admissions process, you will be asked to register your child using an online form (available on this page), which should be accompanied by a payment of a non-refundable fee.
Places are normally offered at the end of January, to be confirmed with a payment of a deposit.

The Brighton College Prep School 9 Plus (9+) entrance exam covers the following areas:
- English
- Mathematics
- Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning
The English paper assesses spelling, grammar and comprehension through a mix of standard format (open-ended) and multiple-choice questions.
The mathematics test evaluates mental maths skills and problem-solving. The exam format is a combination of multiple-choice and open-ended questions.
The (multiple-choice) Verbal Reasoning paper assesses your child’s logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The (multiple-choice) Non-Verbal Reasoning paper is designed to test the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
