City of London Freemen’s School 9 Plus (9+) Open Events

 

As 9+ is not a Freemen’s standard entry point, formal Open Days are not organised, but you and your child are welcome to visit the school by scheduling a private tour. City of London Freemen’s School 9 Plus (9+) Admissions

 

9+ is not a standard entry point to the school. If a 9+ place becomes available, your child will be formally tested prior to entry. The exam takes place in December of Year 4, assessing a broad range of skills. There will also be an interview, and Freemen’s will require a report from your child’s current school.

 

With a deadline in October, registering is a vital step in the admissions process, and it includes a payment of a £200 registration fee. The acceptance deposit is £2,000.

 

Places are normally offered in mid-December, to be confirmed by the deadline in late January.

 

Please note, given that Year 5 is not a main entry point, you should contact the admissions team before registering to see if there are any places available or if they anticipate any becoming available.

City of London Freemen’s School 9 Plus (9+) Exam Format

 

The City of London Freemen’s School 9 Plus (9+) entrance exam covers the following areas:

 

  • English 
  • Mathematics 
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning

 

The English paper will most likely assess both writing and comprehension, including questions covering vocabulary, inference, spelling and punctuation.

 

The Mathematics test will evaluate problem solving and basic arithmetic operations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. 

 

The Non-Verbal Reasoning paper is designed to test the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
