Introduction

Basic information: Wolverhampton Grammar School is a co-educational independent school in the West Midlands. Established in 1512, it boasts a varied list of notable alumni, including bankers, authors, diplomats, surgeons and professors. [1]

Curriculum: In the Junior School, the academic provision is tailored to be inspiring and fun, encompassing learning opportunities that stretch the curriculum well beyond the national standard. Children are both challenged and inspired to become effective communicators and thus use written, spoken and digital forms of expression with confidence.

Co-curricular: Encouraging risk-taking and enthusiastic exploration of interests, WGJS provides an abundant programme of extras. The rich choice of activities includes orchestra, Book Club, animation, lego, drama, athletics and hockey, boosting pupils’ skills in parallel with their social proficiency and intellectual resourcefulness. [2]

In line with its ambitious ethos and positive reputation, Wolverhampton Grammar centres its efforts on academic excellence and thus stimulates pupils to achieve to the best of their abilities. Its community is not pretentious but tight-knit, allowing children to form an identity on the grounds of trust and mutual respect instead of uncertainty and unrealistic expectations.
