Introduction
Alton School is an independent, co-ed day school on the outskirts of Alton, Hampshire. Established in 1938, the school occupies a 19-acre campus. [1]
In the Prep School, the academic life is rich and varied, introducing pupils to a wealth of disciplines which, alongside science, MFL, humanities, PE and the creative arts, maximise their literacy and numeracy skills.
The extensive grounds occupied by the school allow pupils to gain a deeper understanding of the processes in the natural world through a range of exciting activities such as exploring tepees in the woods, growing plants and vegetables and sorting natural materials.
Extracurricular activities are introduced early on, ranging from craft club and computer club to music group and (the paid-for club) equestrian. Participation in sporting activities is strongly encouraged, hence the school offers an array of further pursuits, including swimming, rugby, football, cricket, netball, hockey and rounders. [2]

Open Events for Alton Prep School 7 Plus (7+) Entry
The Open Day events at Alton Prep aim to familiarise prospective families with everything on offer. You and your child will take a guided tour of the campus and enjoy some fun activities following informal meetings with key staff members.

Alton Prep School 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
Registration forms can be accessed through this page. These should be returned to the school together with a payment of a £75 fee.
Entry to Alton Prep is through assessments, testing your child’s skills in two areas of the curriculum. If you decide to accept the offer of a place, you should do so by completing an Acceptance Form and returning it with a £500 deposit.

The Alton Prep School 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:

- Mathematics
The English exam tests comprehension and writing skills, including inference, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and oral skills.
The Maths exam assesses problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including your child’s knowledge of times tables.
