Introduction
Alton School is an independent co-educational day school on the outskirts of Alton, Hampshire. The school was established in 1938 by the Sisters of Our Lady of Providence, occupying a 19-acre estate.
The Senior School curriculum consists of English, mathematics, religious education, geography, history, MFL, Latin and science. After classes, pupils can take part in a wide range of sporting activities, such as Football, Netball, Rugby, Hockey, Tennis, Cricket, Athletics, Swimming and Equestrian.
Alton is a leading Catholic school on the border of Hampshire and Surrey, and, as such, it places great emphasis on personal faith, tolerance, service, friendship and respect for others. Pupils of all faith backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged to actively engage in community service and fundraising activities, addressing in that way the needs of the wider world.

Open Events for Alton School 11 Plus (11+) Entry
Open Mornings at Alton School are held each term, providing families with the opportunity to get a taste of life on campus. Held on a typical working day, they include a guided tour of facilities and meetings with key members of staff.
Individual school tours, including a meeting with the Head, can also be arranged. Alton School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
By completing a registration form, you will take the first step towards applying for a place at Alton Senior School. This includes a payment of a £75 registration fee, which is non-refundable.
Your child will then be invited to sit an online entrance exam, which takes place in January. A place will be offered on the basis of their performance in the test and positive current-school reports.
Please note that acceptance includes a payment of a £500 deposit, which will secure your child’s place at the school. Induction Day for all prospective pupils is held in June.
Alton School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Alton School’s Hypatia Programme recognises achievement in the areas of Academic ability, Music, Drama, Art and Sports. Although the awards are non-monetary, they provide pupils with access to a range of opportunities to further develop their abilities in the relevant area. More details are available on this page.
Families in need of financial assistance may apply for a means-tested bursary, awarded at the discretion of the Head. As part of the evaluation procedure, you will be asked to complete a confidential financial assessment and submit supporting information.
The bursary is awarded until the end of your child’s education at the school, but is subject to annual review and satisfactory academic performance. The confidential financial assessment form can be obtained from the admissions office.

- Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4)
The CAT4 is an online exam that aims to examine developed abilities via modules testing Verbal, Non-Verbal, Spatial and Quantitative Reasoning.
