Sutton Valence School (SVS) is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school near Maidstone. It was founded in 1576 by William Lambe, Master of the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers and a member of the Chapel Royal of Henry VIII.
In Year 7, pupils study English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, RE, art & design, business studies, design & technology, drama, film studies, geography, history ICT, MFL, music and physical education.

Sutton Valence School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
To join the school in Year 7, your child will be expected to sit entrance tests held in November, prior to the September entry. The tests can also be taken at a more mutually convenient time.
The first step of the admissions process includes the completion of a Registration Form, which can be obtained from the School Office. Alternatively, you can access the registration form on the school’s website. The registration fee is £100.
Your child may receive an offer on the basis of strong academic ability demonstrated in the examinations, but special consideration will be given to children with siblings already in the school or joining concurrently as well as the date of registration.
Sutton Valence School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
The school offers scholarships at the discretion of the Headmaster, applicable to either day or boarding fees. Any further financial assistance may be obtained through a means-tested bursary.
At 11+, Academic Scholarships are awarded following successful performance in the examinations and an interview with the Headmaster and the Head of Academic Scholars. In the same age group, the school also awards Art, Design Technology & Music Scholarships, Sports Scholarships and Drama Scholarships.
Bursaries are awarded on the basis of financial need and at the discretion of the Scholarship and Bursaries Committee. They are reviewed annually.
