Introduction

Based in South West London, Northwood Senior is part of a family of independent schools called Northwood Schools. It is a co-educational establishment, successfully catering for children at the ages 11–16. 

Academically, Northwood Senior strives to provide a relaxed environment, encouraging cross-curricular learning while celebrating both effort and achievement. The syllabus features science, MFL, drama, mathematics and computing, among others, maintaining a relevant approach towards educating that’s greatly supported by experienced staff. [1]

Northwood Senior is happy to welcome families on campus during Open Mornings or private visits. The events will allow you and your child to explore the school’s grounds through tours and meet key members of staff, as well as hear from the Head. Northwood Senior 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

Throughout the admissions process, the school will take into consideration your child’s results in baseline tests, the quality of their current-school references and their conduct during an interview.

If your child sat the Year 6 CATs/Incas tests, they will not be asked to take additional tests. If they can’t provide this data, then they will be formally assessed.

Please note that the following fees are payable: £100 fee for registration and £2,750 deposit on acceptance of a place. The latter will most likely be refunded to you at the end of your child’s career at Northwood Senior.

Northwood Senior 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

The school offers two All-Rounder Scholarships to Year 7 entrants, valued at 20% of fees. Applicants who exhibit strong abilities in the following areas will be considered: academia, art, leadership, citizenship, design technology, music, sport, drama or other.

If 11+ applicants can’t provide baseline test results, Northwood Senior will administer the following exam:

• Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4)

The CAT4 test aims to assess developed abilities via modules testing Verbal, Non-Verbal, Spatial and Quantitative Reasoning.
