Introduction
Royal Russell School is an independent, co-ed day and boarding school in Croydon, South London. Patronised by Queen Elizabeth II, the school occupies over 100 acres of grounds in a wooded estate, located two miles south-east of Croydon. [1]
The curriculum in the Junior School is broad and challenging, covering the core subjects of English, maths and science, along with humanities, MFL, art, music, drama PE, computing and DT.
Pupils gain additional knowledge and skills via numerous co-curricular activities, designed to meet their interests in areas such as chess, computer programming, gymnastics, photography, gardening, film and many others.
According to the latest report by the ISI, the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils is excellent, as are relationships throughout the school. Children are ‘self-aware, confident, tolerant and respectful’, supported by the school’s very own Tutoring System which further enhances their ‘academic and social well-being’. [2]
Promoting a love of learning and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence, Royal Russell ensures that pupils exit its safe and friendly community with the determination to make a difference. As they prepare for a future of success and fulfillment, children adopt the values of honesty, integrity, generosity and a respect for others and the environment, in line with the Royal Russell motto: Not for oneself but for all.
