Introduction
Putney High School is an independent school for girls in Putney, London. Established in 1893, it is a member of the GDST network of girls’ day schools and has educated a number of notable authors, politicians, journalists and artists. [1]
Putney High fosters a cross-curricular approach to educating, encouraging students to think differently and, above all, independently. The curriculum broadly addresses their needs for extensive academic development, thus it features relevant disciplines such as languages, science, mathematics and technology.
To enhance the learning experience, Putney High provides an impressively broad co-curricular programme, comprising lacrosse, tennis, crafts, choir, Mandarin and Eco Club, among others. For the benefit of their personal development, girls are also urged to partake in community service activities and hence learn about their social responsibility, as well as the importance of empathising with those in need. [2]
Pastorally, Putney High supports pupils at the highest possible standard, personalising its provision so that it can meet individual needs. As a result, girls grow in integrity and overcome self-imposed limitations, thriving within the school’s heterogeneous community as articulate learners who celebrate differences and seize opportunities on the spot.
