Introduction
Tudor Hall School is an independent day and boarding school for girls in Oxfordshire. It was founded in 1850 in Salisbury and moved to its current location in 1946. Considered a high-performing school, Tudor Hall has named its four houses after the Royal Houses that ruled over England: Tudor, Stuart, Lancaster and York. [1]
In line with its rich tradition, the school provides relevant education, characterised by a wealth of academic and non-academic opportunities such as science, philosophy, ICT, drama, Classics and languages. To maximise pupils’ learning skills and problem-solving abilities, Tudor Hall also offers the Aim Higher programme, which encompasses conferences, sessions and the Tudor Diploma, along with its four distinctive sections: Academic, Adventure Learning, Co-curricular and Habeo ut dem. [2]
Habeo ut dem (I have that I may give) is the school’s motto, adopted by every member of the school’s community and reflected in almost every community-related activity. Tudor Hall boasts a busy and productive charity committee that organises outreach events with local community groups and schools on a regular basis, boosting girls’ altruistic qualities and their awareness of the needs of others. [3]
The co-curricular programme features MUN (Model United Nations), encouraging students to discuss and address a wide selection of issues, including human rights, globalisation and care for the environment. Through these activities, girls learn how to articulate their opinions, effectively communicate, research and negotiate, and thus maximise a range of pertinent skills, highly sought-after in the 21st century workplace.
