The Late Transfer test for Year 9 (13+) entry evaluates students’ skills across three areas and takes approximately one hour to complete.


To be considered for this assessment, your daughter must first be registered, with a deadline typically in late October of the year before entry. During the registration process, you’ll also need to provide your school preferences and indicate whether your daughter is eligible for Pupil Premium and Free School Meals, as well as disclose any medical or social needs that may affect her ranking.


Invitations for the Late Transfer test are sent out in December, and it’s crucial that you confirm your daughter’s attendance by a specified date.


The test itself takes place in February of the year preceding entry, and results are typically communicated to you in the following month.

The Beaconsfield High School 13+ entrance examination consists of the following tests:

The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper will include multiple-choice questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.


The multiple-choice Verbal Reasoning paper is designed to test and assess logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.


The multiple-choice Non-Verbal Reasoning paper measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
