Queen Elizabeth Grammar School (QEGS) is an independent day school for boys in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Dating back to 1591, it boasts an impressive list of notable alumni, including a US Senator, mathematicians, university professors and archaeologists.

Entry into Year 3 is dependent upon the quality of your child’s school reports and his performance in 7+ assessments, typically taking place in early February.
The application fee is £50, while the acceptance deposit is £200.
QEGS Junior School 7 Plus (7+) Scholarships and Bursaries
QEGS Junior School offers Foundation Awards to Year 3 applicants, valued at 25% – 50% of fees.
Applications for these awards should be submitted by the deadline in late December of the year preceding entry.

The QEGS Junior School 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- Standardised papers which examine potential (Reasoning)
The English assessment examines comprehension and writing skills, including inference and grammar.
The Maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including his knowledge of times tables.
The Verbal Reasoning section of the standardised paper is designed to test and assess logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning section of the standardised paper measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
