Introduction

Basic information: Yarm School is an independent day school in Yarm, North Yorkshire. Established in 1978 as an all-boys’ establishment, it became co-educational in 2001 and currently caters for approximately 1200 pupils. [1]

Curriculum: In the Prep, the school offers a dynamic curriculum, encompassing everything from science, computing and languages to art, DT and music. Teaching staff encourage inquisitive learning, supporting children as they engage in extensive academic, personal and social development.

Co-curricular: Stretched well beyond the classroom, learning at Yarm School is both productive and effective, underpinned by a wide-ranging co-curricular programme. The activities on offer include debating, chess, parkour, STEM and pottery, equipping pupils with valuable skills to benefit them for a lifetime. [2]

Outdoor learning: Yarm School’s close proximity to the Yorkshire Dales provides the cohort with a wealth of valuable experiences that improve their understanding of plant and animal life. The vigorous outdoor learning programme, set in a woodland area waiting to be explored, enables children to maximise their appreciation of the natural world and acquire strong environmental awareness in the process.
