Introduction
Rendcomb College is a co-educational, independent boarding and day school located in the village of Rendcomb in Gloucestershire. Founded in 1920, it owns approximately 230 acres of land and numerous facilities, including two hard tennis courts, a heated open-air swimming pool and a Performing Arts Centre. [1]
In the Junior School, the curriculum comprises seven areas of learning and wide range of subjects, including English, French, computing, mathematics, music, games, science, drama, PE, history, art, religious education, geography, DT and PSHE.
A varied activities programme is also on offer, including fun and engaging pursuits aimed at boosting pupils’ prowess in the areas of fencing, martial arts, rugby, choir and speech & drama, among others.
Through its ‘Forest School’, the school makes the most out of its extensive site, enabling children to experience unaccustomed challenges, take controlled risks and grow in confidence while becoming familiar with the wonders of the natural world. [2]

Open Events for Rendcomb College 7 Plus (7+) Entry
If you are interested in learning more about the Rendcomb College ethos and admissions process, the school will be happy to welcome you on campus during Open Mornings. These take place twice a year, in the Autumn and Spring Terms, and include tours of facilities, presentations from the Head and informal meetings with key staff members over coffee.

Rendcomb College 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
Registration for places includes a payment of a £100 Registration Fee. Your child will then be invited to the school to attend a Taster Session, during which they will be assessed in the areas of numeracy, literacy and Verbal Reasoning. School reports will be taken into consideration.
Following a successful Taster Day, your child may be offered a place. To secure it, you will be asked to return An Acceptance Form, completed and signed by both parents and pay an Acceptance Fee of £250, refunded in your child’s last term at the school. During the Acceptance period, or prior to it, the Admissions Team will request a reference from your child’s current school.
Rendcomb College 7 Plus (7+) Scholarships and Bursaries
The school offers scholarships to 7+ applicants following an assessment of their ability, potential, attitude and work ethos. As part of the evaluation process, the Head of Juniors will meet with each applicant.
Typically valued at up to 10% of the school fees, the awards will be valid throughout your child’s time at the Junior School.

The Rendcomb College 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- English
- Mathematics
- Verbal Reasoning
The English exam tests comprehension and writing skills, including inference, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and oral skills.
The Maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including their knowledge of times tables.
The Verbal Reasoning section of the exam is designed to test and assess their logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
