Introduction
Abercorn School is an independent co-ed school which occupies three locations in St John’s Wood and Marylebone, London. Opened in 1987, it is a member of the Independent Schools Association and the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools. [1]
The curriculum is broad and extensive, covering a number of disciplines through which the school actively prepares children for further education. Lessons are delivered in the areas of STEM, English, maths, languages, humanities, arts and sports.
In conjunction with the varied and stimulating education on offer, Abercorn provides a number of opportunities for exploration of further interests, whether they be taekwondo, chess, football, ballet or coding. Additionally, pupils regularly take trips to exciting destinations, developing their cultural and aesthetic understanding through visits to museums and theatres.
The pastoral care system is underpinned by the values of ‘respect, responsibility, kindness, fairness, forgiveness and determination’, allowing children to benefit from robust and individualised support and attention. Staff are always on-hand to discuss any concerns and challenges children may face, as their happiness is not just a priority but a whole school responsibility. [2]
