Introduction
Royal High School Bath is an independent day and boarding school for girls located in Somerset. It provides an outstanding education, specifically tailored to the needs of girls in the 21st century.

The Open Morning gives you the opportunity to visit the school, have a good look around via a pupil-led tour and talk to teachers and girls about life on campus. You can register your attendance by filling out an online form available on the school’s website.
Royal High School Bath 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
If you wish to enroll your daughter in the school, you should complete a registration form available on the school’s website. The form should be sent, along with a non-refundable registration fee of £100, to the school’s Registrar.
Taster Days are an integral part of the Admissions process, therefore, it is highly recommended by the school that your daughter attends the event. For more information, please contact the Registrar.
To proceed with the admissions process, your daughter will be expected to sit entrance examinations. Prior to the entrance assessment, there will be an interview, during which she will have the opportunity to demonstrate skills not revealed in written papers.
Once the papers are marked, the school sends out offer letters.
Royal High School Bath 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Based on exceptional performance in the Entrance Examination, the school may offer your daughter an Academic Scholarship. These awards usually cover 15% of tuition fees, but in exceptional circumstances, they can be extended to 50%. In some cases, Honorary Scholarships (with no monetary benefits) are awarded, providing recipients with full access to the Scholars’ programme.
Year 7 Academic Scholars maintain their awards until Year 13, however, they are reviewed regularly by the Head throughout these years.

Means-tested awards which cover up to 100% of the fees are given to students who demonstrate outstanding all-round academic ability. Royal High School Bath 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Royal High School 11+ exam consists of the following papers:
- English (60 mins)
- Mathematics (45 mins)
- Verbal Reasoning (45 mins)
- Non-Verbal Reasoning (25 mins)
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your daughter’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess her logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning paper measures your daughter’s ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
