Introduction

 

Glenthorne High School is a mixed secondary school located in the London Borough of Sutton. Founded in 1933, the school became coeducational in 1993 and converted to academy status in 2011. [1]

 

Pupils study art, business, computing, dance, drama, English, geography, health & social care, history, MFL, maths, media, music, PHSE, PE and psychology.

 

The varied extracurricular programme covers everything from Book club, Trampolining and Netball, to DT Club, Chamber Choir and Science Club, ensuring pupils’ social, physical and academic development.

The school holds an Open Evening in September, allowing you and your child to tour the school, meet staff members and hear a speech. 

 

Glenthorne High School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

  

If you wish your child to be considered for entry, you must complete the Home Local Authority (LA) Common Application Form (CAF) and return it to your LA by late October of the year preceding entry. You must also name the school as one of your preferences on the CAF, which can be found here.

 

The school administers Banding tests, taking place in November of the year preceding entry. You should register your child for the tests via an on-line web form, available on the school’s website, by the deadline in late October. Based on their results, your child will be placed in one of the nine bands.

 

In the case of oversubscription within each band, priority will be given to:

 

  • Looked after and previously looked after children
  • Children with exceptional medical or social reasons for attending the school
  • Children of permanent staff employed at the school
  • Children who have a sibling at the school
  • Children living closer to the school

 

Offers are sent out in March, to be accepted within two weeks from the date of the offer.
