Introduction
Framlingham College is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school in the town of Framlingham, near Woodbridge, Suffolk. Framlingham College was originally called The Albert Middle Class College in Suffolk in memory of Prince Albert.
The school teaches the following range of subjects: art, design & technology, drama, English, geography, history, ICT, languages, mathematics, music, PE, PSHE, religious education and science.
The broad array of co-curricular activities includes the Learning for Life programme which covers sessions in drama, ballet, gardening, fencing, cookery, coding, critical thinking, drone flying, debating and Model United Nations.
Cultural, educational, recreational visits and journeys of discovery are also part of the co-curricular programme, taking place in countries like Borneo, Chile, Bolivia, Venezuela, China, Nepal, Peru, Tibet, Uganda, Namibia, Mount Everest and Morocco.
In line with the school’s motto Studio sapientia crescit (Wisdom grows with study), children at Framlingham College grow up to be forward-thinking individuals with a global perspective and a clear understanding of the rapidly changing world.

Open Events for Framlingham College 11 Plus (11+) Entry
Attending open events will provide you with the opportunity to see the school in action and soak up the atmosphere. These include Open Mornings, Taster Days and Stay & Play sessions. Framlingham College 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Registration for places in Year 7 includes a payment of a £100 non-refundable fee. Your child will then be invited to attend exams, testing their skills across two areas of the curriculum. References from their current school will also be requested.
Following satisfactory performance in the exams, an offer of a place may be made (in February). To accept it, you will need to sign the Parent Contract and return it with a £500 deposit.
Framlingham College 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Scholarships are available for pupils who demonstrate excellence in the following areas:
- Academia
- Performing & Creative Arts (art, computer science, DT, drama and music)
- Sports
The financial value of scholarships varies. Exceptional Academic Scholarship candidates can gain an award of up to 50% of fees. However, the majority are between 10-20%.
Supplementary means-tested bursaries are also available. For top Scholars, bursaries may cover 100% of fees if financial circumstances justify this level of support. Please note that such cases are rare.
The Pembroke Scholarship offers full remission of tuition fees and is designed to support exceptionally gifted and talented pupils with financial circumstances which make it difficult for them to access independent education.
The Albert Memorial award is an all-round award, offered at the discretion of the Principal to candidates with strengths in more than one area.

Framlingham College 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Framlingham College’s 11+ exam consists of the following papers:
- English
- Mathematics
The English paper aims to evaluate your child’s reading, comprehension and writing skills.
The maths paper is designed to examine your child’s skills in problem-solving and arithmetic. The paper will include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
