Introduction

Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School (also known as QE or QEGS) is a co-educational grammar school with academy status in Faversham, Kent. Formed in 1967 following the merger between two schools, it specialises in mathematics, computing and modern languages. [1]

QEGS’ curriculum is designed to provide an extensive and relevant education, centred on individual needs. As such, it encompasses a broad range of disciplines, ranging from history and ICT to DT and Thinking Skills.

Beyond the classroom, pupils participate in an array of extracurricular clubs, aimed at maximising their learning alongside their social development. Vastly popular, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award activities further engage and challenge the cohort, ensuring their involvement in the local community and giving their confidence a significant boost. [2]

The school prides itself on its forward-looking ethos, catering for students from different backgrounds within a supportive environment. Facilitating pupils’ awareness of their civic responsibilities, QEGS fosters a sense of achievement, underpinning a vibrant community that centres on self-discipline as vital to academic and personal growth.

QEGS Faversham 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format

QEGS Faversham adheres to the Kent 11 Plus test, which is split into three sections:

  • The first section focuses on English and mathematics. Both subjects consist of a 5-minute practice exercise and a 25-minute test in the multiple choice format.
  • The second section tests Reasoning abilities (Verbal, Non-Verbal and Spatial Reasoning). This is also a multiple-choice test and it lasts for an hour.
  • The third section is a writing task that lasts for 40 minutes. Results in the paper do not contribute to the overall 11+ score, but they may be used when looking at borderline cases, or during an appeals process.

How to Prepare for the QEGS Faversham 11 Plus (11+) Exam

At Exam Papers Plus, we recommend that students follow a structured approach towards preparation for the 11+ entrance exam. Such an approach includes practice tests, which consist of thoroughly researched and up to date questions that reflect a competitive 11+ examination format.

By covering all the key skills and the range of question types your child will encounter in the actual test, our practice tests will help them get used to answering questions quickly and effectively. More importantly, they will help identify any weaker areas that require additional work and attention. In this way, our practice tests will assist in boosting your child’s confidence.

Practice tests ensure that candidates find the preparation process easily manageable and less demanding, and help parents come up with a carefully thought-out revision plan for their child that focuses on studying ‘little and often’.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of students make use of our resources in order to gain an advantage over peers ahead of competitive and highly selective entrance exams.
