What is the Wimbledon High School (WHS) Stage 1 Assessment?

 

Wimbledon High School receives roughly 600 applicants for the 60 available places for entry into Year 7. They therefore run a Stage 1 assessment to decide which girls to invite back for Stage 2. The Stage 1 test consists of Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning papers.

 

What is the WHS Test Structure?

 

These VR and NVR tests are in multiple-choice format.

 

• Verbal Reasoning – “Verbal Reasoning tests the ability to understand, analyse and interpret written information. For example: identifying opposites, considering anagrams or logic statements.” 

 

• Non-Verbal Reasoning – “Non-Verbal Reasoning tests the ability to understand and analyse visual information and solve problems. For example: identifying similarities and differences between shapes and patterns, recognising sequences.” [1]

 

How will these new practice tests benefit my child?

 

These five new practice tests are designed to match the style of questioning you can expect in the Wimbledon High Stage 1 Exam. Therefore, they will provide your child with excellent practice and familiarisation ahead of the actual Stage 1 test.
