Introduction
Ditcham Park School is a co-educational, independent school in the civil parish of Buriton, near Petersfield in Hampshire. Occupying a Victorian manor house built by Sir Reginald Blomfield in 1887, the school produces competitive examination results both locally and nationally. [1]
The curriculum in the Junior school emphasises maths and English, although the provision for other subject areas is just as strong. Lessons are delivered for art, music, MFL, drama, PSHE, PE, history, geography, science, RE and ICT (used mainly as a cross-curricular tool).
Through participation in extracurricular clubs, pupils identify their talents and boost their existing skills, benefitting from a stimulating programme which includes rounders, badminton, fingerprint art, mindfulness, computer club, lego challenge, origami and drama.
Recently, Ditcham Park hosted the Hopeful Earth Conference for Youth, encouraging pupils’ active commitment to combatting climate change and protecting life on earth. Pupils from Ditcham Park and nine local schools pledged to initiate a stronger response from school officials in regards to environmental issues, urging them to develop a curriculum that teaches students about the climate crisis.
