To register for Year 7 entry, you should complete the registration form, which can be accessed on the school’s website, and pay a non-refundable fee of £100.
Entry to the Senior School is dependent on passing the entrance test and on a satisfactory current-school report. During the entrance examination day, your child will sit written papers and attend an interview with the Headmaster, Head of Seniors or Deputy Head of Seniors.
If the school offers you a place, you should accept it by signing a School/Parent contract and completing a Form of Acceptance. The Form of Acceptance must be returned to the school along with a refundable deposit of £500, held until your child leaves.
Academic Scholarships are awarded to pupils entering the school in Year 7, along with Music, Art, Drama and Sports Scholarships. Academic Scholarships are awarded on the basis of excellent performance in the 11+ entrance examinations. Top-performing applicants will be invited to sit additional Scholarship exams and attend an interview with the Headmaster. The awards carry a fee remission of 5-40%.
In addition to scholarships, the school awards, on an annual basis, at least one free 11+ means-tested Bursary place to a state school pupil who performs exceptionally well in the entrance tests. The Ditcham Park School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following papers:
- Reasoning (Verbal and Non-Verbal)
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
