Ditcham Park School is an independent co-educational day school on the South Downs near Petersfield. Its GCSE results over the last 10 years have been consistently impressive with the school typically landing near to or at the top of the Hampshire GCSE league tables.

 

In Year 7, pupils study English, mathematics, science, Spanish, French, Latin, history, geography, music, art, drama, design technology, ICT, religious education and PE/games.

Ditcham Park School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

 

To register for Year 7 entry, you should complete the registration form, which can be accessed on the school’s website, and pay a non-refundable fee of £100.

 

Entry to the Senior School is dependent on passing the entrance test and on a satisfactory current-school report. During the entrance examination day, your child will sit written papers and attend an interview with the Headmaster, Head of Seniors or Deputy Head of Seniors. 

 

If the school offers you a place, you should accept it by signing a School/Parent contract and completing a Form of Acceptance. The Form of Acceptance must be returned to the school along with a refundable deposit of £500, held until your child leaves.

 

Academic Scholarships are awarded to pupils entering the school in Year 7, along with Music, Art, Drama and Sports Scholarships. Academic Scholarships are awarded on the basis of excellent performance in the 11+ entrance examinations. Top-performing applicants will be invited to sit additional Scholarship exams and attend an interview with the Headmaster. The awards carry a fee remission of 5-40%.

 

In addition to scholarships, the school awards, on an annual basis, at least one free 11+ means-tested Bursary place to a state school pupil who performs exceptionally well in the entrance tests. All applicants should submit a detailed Statement of Financial Circumstances. Bursaries at Ditcham Park School, once awarded, are reviewed annually. Ditcham Park School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format

 

The Ditcham Park School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following papers:

 

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Reasoning (Verbal and Non-Verbal)

 

The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.

 

The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.

 

The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess their logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.

 

The Non-Verbal Reasoning test measures their ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, assessing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
