Table of Contents
Embley (formerly known as Hampshire Collegiate School) is an independent, co-ed day and boarding school located in Embley Park in Wellow, Hampshire. It was founded in 1946 in Embley Park, the former family home of Florence Nightingale.
Delivered by highly experienced staff, lessons in the Prep School cover an array of disciplines, including English, mathematics, humanities, ICT, science, art, DT, drama, music and sport. To enhance learning and prepare children for the high-paced world of work, the school heavily relies on technology, introducing iPads into pupils’ learning as early as their Reception years.
Within the scope of the enrichment programme, Embley Prep organises trips every term, which have included exciting destinations such as Beaulieu Motor Museum, Longdown Activity Farm, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Marwell Zoo. In this way, the school actively invests in developing pupils’ sense of independence and resourcefulness.
These qualities are further expanded through the Learning Outside the Classroom programme, which allows children to fully benefit from the school’s outstanding 130 acre setting. Engaged in collecting and analysing data and making careful observations, pupils get to explore the world around them and closely examine the changes it is going through.
At Embley, learning is considered an adventure and academic ambition goes hand in hand with compassion and tolerance, complementing the culture of mutual respect which underpins its vibrant community.
