Introduction
St Paul’s Cathedral School is an independent school associated with St Paul’s Cathedral in London. Based in the New Change, it was founded in 1123 to cater for boys exclusively, becoming co-educational in 2002. [1]
Both core and specialist teaching is available in the Prep School, allowing children to acquire academic and non-academic confidence across a broad range of disciplines. Open Afternoons allow visiting families to get a taste of life on campus. The events start with an address from the Head and proceed with tours of facilities, led by current pupils. There will also be a Q&A session with senior members of staff.

St Paul’s Cathedral School 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
At 7+, the school looks for pupils who perform at the national average or beyond. Application forms must be submitted with a payment of a £100 fee in order to be processed and the deadline for this is in December of the year preceding entry.
The examinations are held in January, and, besides results in these, the school will carefully consider your child’s behaviour, attitude and perseverance, as observed during group and other activities that take place on exam day.
Please note that a deposit of £5,500 is required on acceptance of a place. The amount of £500 is held until your child leaves the school, while the rest is refunded during their first term at St Paul’s Cathedral School.

The St Paul’s Cathedral School 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- English paper (essay)
- Reasoning (Verbal and Non-Verbal)
The English paper examines writing skills. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The Verbal Reasoning section of the exam is designed to test and assess logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning paper measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
