Children will be invited to Bradford Grammar School to sit entrance exams in Maths and English, followed by practical assessments with the Headmaster and Head of Year 7.
The practical afternoon sessions give the Head the opportunity to meet and get to know the children.
The school offers a small number of assisted places to students entering Year 7, for which admissions start earlier.
The entrance exam and assessment procedures are less formal than in previous years. Applying requires a payment of £30 (non-refundable) to be made upon completion of the form.
The results will be posted to parents at the start of February together with an invitation for a Taster Day which includes sample lessons, lunchtime activities and sport/music/art in the afternoon. During the Taster Day, children can meet their future classmates, make friends and see what BGS has to offer. The Taster Days often help boys and girls make a decision on whether the school is the right fit for them.
The school’s fees for Senior School are a total of £13,140 (annual) and £4,380 (termly).
The 11+ Entrance Examination consists of English and Maths papers.
The English paper aims to evaluate a child’s reading comprehension and writing skills.
The Maths paper is specifically designed to provide an opportunity for the child to demonstrate their ability in problem-solving and arithmetic. The questions are in standard format, not multiple-choice.
Our practice tests help students become familiar with the style and layout of BGS Assessment exams, which can help boost their confidence in the lead up to the big day.
They cover all the question types that could be asked in the entrance exam and can be used to identify any weaker areas that require additional work.
Once you devise a specific study schedule and a structured approach towards 11+ exam preparation, you will be able to remove unnecessary stress from the preparation process and make it more manageable for your child.
We highly recommend that students take our practice tests under timed conditions to get used to answering questions quickly and under time pressure.
Our practice tests are age-appropriate, yet still challenging, corresponding perfectly with the demands of a competitive independent school’s 11+ entrance exam.
They are available for immediate download, print and use after purchase.
