Introduction
Bablake School is a co-educational independent school located in Coventry. It was founded in 1344 by Isabella of France, widow of Edward II and is one of the oldest schools in the UK. Bablake is a member of the Coventry School Foundation, a registered charity.
Children at Bablake are taught to be responsible for learning by setting priorities and making full use of the school’s support. Maintaining a sense of self-respect and respect for others is highly encouraged among pupils, and they are advised to not be afraid of failure.
At Bablake, there is a prevailing notion that interprets learning as a journey characterised by both success and frustration. Curiosity and having an inquisitive mind are fostered, whilst engaging in lessons, listening actively, asking questions and pursuing knowledge inside and outside the classroom are some of the traits that make this school special.
The comprehensive curriculum stimulates growth within the classroom, preparing children for complex situations in everyday life. Pupils are provided with experience through a wide range of Linguistic, mathematical, Scientific, Technological, Human, social, Physical, Aesthetic and creative programmes.
The intellectually stimulating environment comprises a number of activities that serve as an extension to classroom learning. Through the co-curricular programme, children take part in competitions, experience the thrill of sport, music and drama, claim leadership roles and participate in charity fundraising and community service activities.
The many clubs on offer include Amnesty International, Animal Rights, Bake Off (Pudding Club), Bridge Club, Charity Enterprise, Chess, Christian Union, Feminist Society, Librarian, Mindfulness, Muslim Society, PALS Group, Sikh Society, Scale Modelling Club, Stretch Magazine, Wheatleyan Magazine and Worship Group.
In accordance with its motto Spiritus Vicis (The Spirit of Opportunity), the school provides children with an environment of limitless possibilities for both academic and personal growth.
