Introduction

Bablake School is a co-educational independent school located in Coventry. It was founded in 1344 by Isabella of France, widow of Edward II and is one of the oldest schools in the UK. Bablake is a member of the Coventry School Foundation, a registered charity.

Children at Bablake are taught to be responsible for learning by setting priorities and making full use of the school’s support. Maintaining a sense of self-respect and respect for others is highly encouraged among pupils, and they are advised to not be afraid of failure.

At Bablake, there is a prevailing notion that interprets learning as a journey characterised by both success and frustration. Curiosity and having an inquisitive mind are fostered, whilst engaging in lessons, listening actively, asking questions and pursuing knowledge inside and outside the classroom are some of the traits that make this school special.

The comprehensive curriculum stimulates growth within the classroom, preparing children for complex situations in everyday life. Pupils are provided with experience through a wide range of  Linguistic, mathematical, Scientific, Technological, Human, social, Physical, Aesthetic and creative programmes.

The intellectually stimulating environment comprises a number of activities that serve as an extension to classroom learning. Through the co-curricular programme, children take part in competitions, experience the thrill of sport, music and drama, claim leadership roles and participate in charity fundraising and community service activities.

The many clubs on offer include Amnesty International, Animal Rights, Bake Off (Pudding Club), Bridge Club, Charity Enterprise, Chess, Christian Union, Feminist Society, Librarian, Mindfulness, Muslim Society, PALS Group, Sikh Society, Scale Modelling Club, Stretch Magazine, Wheatleyan Magazine and Worship Group.

In accordance with its motto Spiritus Vicis (The Spirit of Opportunity), the school provides children with an environment of limitless possibilities for both academic and personal growth.

Your child will then sit entrance examinations covering English, mathematics and Reasoning (Verbal and Non-Verbal) papers.

Offers will be made to successful candidates in the December prior to the year of entry, to be accepted in March along with a deposit of £300 to secure the place.

Bablake School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format

All candidates sit an 11+ examination in October consisting of maths, English and Reasoning papers.

The English paper examines comprehension and writing skills, whilst the maths paper tests problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills.

The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess pupils’ logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary. The Non-Verbal Reasoning paper is designed to measure the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.

How to Prepare for the Bablake School 11 Plus (11+) Exam

Practice tests are an effective tool for preparation for the Bablake School 11+ exam. With the help of our practice tests, designed and formatted to match the actual exams, your child will learn to deal with various 11+ exam question types quickly and confidently.

The benefits for your child are numerous: the tests provide focused practice and familiarity with a wide variety of possibilities and examples, serving as an indicator of any weaker areas that require additional work ahead of the exam. We suggest starting early with your revision so that you have plenty of time to identify subject areas that need additional work.

Our practice tests are used successfully every year by tens of thousands of students targeting schools with a competitive entrance exam. They are age-appropriate, reflecting the demands of the actual exam.

The practice tests are challenging, and preparing for the 11 Plus can sometimes feel overwhelming. But once a carefully thought-out revision plan is implemented, students should find the process a lot more manageable.

Aside from getting used to answering the types of questions that may be asked on the big day, they also work on developing time-management skills, such as answering questions under pressure.
