Introduction

Mount House School is an independent day school located in Monken Hadley, in the London Borough of Barnet. Founded in 1903 as an all-girls school, it became co-educational in 2018, accepting boys into Year 7 and the Sixth Form.

In Senior School, pupils study: English, maths, science, geography, history, RS, MFL, classics, Mandarin, computing, Latin, music, art, drama, textiles, PE and games.

Ranging from Film Club, Football, Python Club and Military History Club, to Drama, Book Club, Gymnastics and Entrepreneurship Club, the co-curricular programme aims to meet each pupil’s preference and further develop their interests.

Mount House aims to help students develop into responsible citizens with an awareness of the needs of the local and broader community. The school promotes intellectual curiosity and a lasting love of learning, along with a can-do attitude, helping children mature into well-rounded adults who actively pursue excellence throughout their lives.

Mount House School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format

The Mount House School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following tests:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning

The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.

The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.

The Non-Verbal Reasoning test measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, assessing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
