Introduction

Basic information: Norwich School is an independent, co-educational day school, located near Norwich Cathedral in Norwich. Dating back to 1096, it is considered as one of the oldest schools in the country, thus its alumni list features an impressive number of notable figures, including architects, historians, scientists and university professors. [1]

Curriculum: The teaching provision in the Lower School covers a wide selection of subject areas, aimed at allowing pupils to develop key skills and qualifications as they progress into their senior years. Accordingly, the curriculum includes a rich range of disciplines, including English, maths, science, humanities, art, computer science, DT, digital literacy, MFL, music, PSHEE, religious studies and sports.

Co-curricular: Providing something for everyone, the extensive extracurricular programme includes an impressive number of activities, such as dance, theatre, gardening, eco, tennis, fencing, choir, computing and chess. These and the many others on offer are an opportunity for pupils to try something new or improve existing skills. [2]

Inspection reports: The most recent ISI Educational Quality Inspection has awarded Norwich School the highest grading possible, establishing that its strong academic and non-academic provision results in excellent standards of attainment, well above the national age-related expectations. [4]

Centred on developing reflective young people who demonstrate a capacity to articulate complex ideas, the Norwich ethos actively prepares pupils for a life of leadership through a broad and comprehensive education. The school encourages service to the local and wider communities and promotes traditional Christian values, ensuring that pupils leave with a plethora of abilities, rooted in tolerance and compassion.
