St Dominic’s Grammar School is an independent, co-educational day school in the village of Brewood, Staffordshire. Founded by the Dominican Sisters in 1920, it was previously known by the names St Dominic’s High School For Girls and St Dominic’s Brewood. [1]


The balanced curriculum comprises English, maths, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, history, RE, French, Spanish, art, DT, PE, music, drama and ICT.


Through an extensive selection of enrichment activities, which include the World Challenge programme, pupils have the opportunity to work on community projects and travel to far-off destinations such as Malaysia and Costa Rica, or take part in exchange programmes to both France and Spain.

The school holds Open Mornings in October and March, offering families the opportunity to meet teaching staff members and current pupils, take a pupil-led tour of the school and chat with the Senior Leadership team.


Private tours on a normal working day, led by the Headmaster or Leadership team member, can be arranged through the Admissions Office.

To register your child for the entry exam, you should submit a completed Registration Form and pay a fee of £25. The deadline for registrations is in early October of the year preceding entry. 


The entrance examination takes place later the same month. References from your child’s current school will be requested. There may also be an interview.


Offers of places are accepted by completing an acceptance form and paying a £200 fee.

St. Dominic’s awards scholarships in the following areas: Academic ability, Sports, Performing Arts and Art. 


Academic Scholarships and Awards are offered on the grounds of performance in the entrance assessment.


Performing Arts (Music, Dance, Drama) and Sport Scholarships are awarded following auditions.


Art Scholarships applicants will be expected to submit a portfolio of work and attend a formal interview.

The St Dominic’s Grammar School, Brewood, 11+ exam consists of the following tests:

  • Mathematics
  • Verbal Reasoning


The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
