Who are these practice tests for?
They are specifically designed for students taking the 11+ Exam in 2023 for entry to the following Grammar Schools in Gloucestershire:
How will these practice tests benefit my child?
As you may know, the grammar schools in Gloucestershire have changed their exam format for 2024 entry onwards.
Instead of CEM, they will use a new exam board: GL Assessment
Our new practice tests are designed to familiarise your child with the timings, question types and difficulty level of the new exam format.
The new Gloucestershire 11+ Exam will be fully multiple-choice.
It will consist of two papers:
Paper 1: Verbal Skills
This paper will assess Comprehension, Vocabulary and Verbal Reasoning.
The total duration of the paper is 60 minutes, with 45 minutes of actual testing time.
The paper will consist of timed sub-sections, which will each begin with instructions, samples and practice questions.
Paper 2: Mathematical & Non-Verbal Skills
This paper will assess Mathematics and Non-Verbal Reasoning, which include Spatial Reasoning.
The total duration of the paper is 60 minutes, with 45 minutes of actual testing time.
The paper will consist of timed sub-sections, which will each begin with instructions, samples and practice questions.
These practice tests include questions written by an actual GL Assessment question writer, ensuring they are as accurate as possible.
Some of the question types included are relatively new and not well known. You won’t find them in other practice resources.
You may have come across the official GL Assessment familiarisation material and we definitely recommend working through it with your child.
However, the thing many parents don’t realise is that these familiarisation materials are generic for all GL 11+ Exams and don’t really provide you with a fully accurate representation of the exam your child will take in Gloucestershire.
They do not reflect specifics of the Gloucestershire test such as timings, number of questions per section and the possible question types that could be included.
We’ve tailored our practice tests to specifically match the timings and layout of the Gloucestershire exam, including new question types which are not shown in the familiarisation material but may well come up in the exam.
