Basic information: Established in 1748, Kingswood School is an independent day and boarding school in Bath, Somerset. Open Events for Kingswood Prep School 8 Plus (8+) Entry
For the Prep School, Kingswood does not host typical Open Events. You are encouraged to reach out to the Admissions team and schedule an individual visit instead, consisting of meetings with key teaching staff members and the Head, as well as tours of facilities.
Kingswood Prep School 8 Plus (8+) Admissions
To commence the admissions process, you should complete a registration form and pay the £125 registration fee.
Formal 8+ assessments will then be scheduled for your child, assessing their skills across three areas. If they perform successfully, they may be offered a place, to be secured with a payment of a £300 deposit. Please note that, as part of the entry procedure, your child’s school reports will also be reviewed.
Kingswood Prep School 8 Plus (8+) Scholarships and Bursaries

Kingswood Prep School 8 Plus (8+) Exam Format
The Kingswood Prep School 8 Plus (8+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- English (multiple-choice)
- Mathematics (multiple-choice)
- Non-Verbal Reasoning (multiple-choice)
The English assessment is in the multiple-choice format, examining comprehension skills, including inference and grammar.
The multiple-choice Maths exam assesses problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including your child’s knowledge of times tables.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning exam measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
