Kingswood School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of performance in the entrance examination and your child’s school report. The top-performing candidates will receive an award which covers up to 25% of the basic fees. The remaining pupils, judged worthy of scholarship recognition, will hold honorary titles which have no monetary award attached, but give the child the status of a scholar in the school.
Scholarships can also be applied in the following areas: art, design technology, drama, music and sport. For more information, please visit the school’s website.
Kingswood School awards bursaries in cases where it is felt that the child would benefit from access to the school, and where there is proven need based on the family’s inability to afford full fees. Normally, bursaries cover between 10% and 50% of the fees but, in very exceptional circumstances, larger bursaries of up to 100% of the basic fees can be awarded.
In addition to financial need, the school’s criteria for awarding bursaries are:
- to meet the needs of families facing particularly difficult circumstances
- to enable very able children to benefit from Kingswood’s education
- to enable children with a particular talent to benefit from Kingswood’s education
- to expand the social spectrum benefiting from an independent education.
Financial eligibility for a bursary is determined by a Means Tested Declaration and an assessment of income and capital, according to the Bursars’ Association. The decision to award or not award a bursary is decided by the Headmaster, in agreement with key members of the Senior Management Team.
Note that all financially eligible applicants will not be offered bursaries because demand for bursarial assistance is usually greater than the funds available. For more information, please visit the school’s website.
