Basic information: Withington Girls’ School is an independent day school in Fallowfield, Manchester. Established in 1890 with the purpose of providing local girls with top-quality education, it has managed to successfully abide by its founders’ principles over the years, performing consistently well in league tables. [1]

Curriculum: The Withington Girls’ curriculum addresses pupils’ individual needs for self-discovery, expression and exploration of the world and its properties. Rounded and balanced, it includes PSHCE, science, technology, languages and humanities, providing girls with a firm academic (and non-academic) grounding ahead of their senior years.

Co-curricular: A vast range of club activities enrich the educational journey and enhance the friendship and understanding pervading the school’s community. Girls get to choose from orchestra, choir, eco-warriors, tennis, dance, fencing and drama, among others, and thus acquire new skills that will benefit them in the long run. [2]

ISI Inspection report: Rated as ‘excellent’ across all assessed areas, Withington Girls’ features an exceptional standard of achievement and endeavour and produces self-motivated learners who confidently progress through key stages of their education. According to the report, the provision of pastoral care extensively caters for every member of the school’s community, underpinning an ethos that inspires exemplary behaviour and maximises personal development. [3]

Withington Girls’ celebrates diversity, encouraging girls to value their distinctive qualities and develop a strong sense of responsibility for their actions as a vital part of growing up. The school’s effective educational philosophy ensures positive outcomes, empowering pupils to explore the limitations of their potential and maximise their skills and virtues.
