Introduction
The King’s School, Worcester is an independent school refounded by Henry VIII in 1541. The Senior School is located on Worcester’s College Green, between Worcester Cathedral and the east bank of the River Severn.
Providing pupils with a grounding in all key areas, the curriculum for Seniors comprises mathematics, English, PE and games, modern languages, Science, history, geography, DT, computing, drama, dance, Latin, music, art, religion, philosophy and PSHE.
Numerous clubs and societies form the core of the co-curricular programme. They include Debating, Technical Theatre Club, WRAITH (Writing, Reading and Imaginative Thinking), Chess Club, Orchestra, Digital Media Club, Psychology Club, Craft Club and Politics Club.

Open Events for King’s Worcester 11 Plus (11+) Entry
The school holds two Open Mornings a year, in September and January. You can also arrange a private tour during a normal school day at any time throughout the year.

King’s Worcester 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Before being offered a place at King’s Worcester, all candidates are required to undertake entrance tests and attend an interview. For Year 7 entry, the examinations are set in February.
The school will also take into account a written reference, requested from your child’s current school Head, in order to better assess their academic ability, attitude, behaviour, involvement in the school community, talents and interests.
If the school is oversubscribed and has to decide between two or more candidates who meet all admission requirements, preference will be given to:
- a child who already has a sibling in the school or whose parent is a former pupil;
- a child whose parent is a current staff member;
- a child with a particular skill, talent or aptitude.
King’s Worcester 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Scholarships are available at King’s Worcester, but they don’t exceed one third of fees in value. Some scholarships are awarded during your child’s time at the school and are purely honorary.
Your child may be awarded a joint Academic and Music Scholarship, but only if the combined awards are not worth more than a total of one third of fees.
The value of scholarships may be supplemented by a bursary. The school has a Bursary fund which grants financial support each year. All grants are means-tested and subject to annual review.

King’s Worcester 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The King’s Worcester entrance assessment consists of the following papers:
- English
- Maths
- Verbal Reasoning
The English paper examines comprehension and writing skills, whilst the maths paper tests problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess your child’s logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
