7 plus (7+) Exam – Eltham College – What you need to know
Table of Contents
Introduction
Eltham College Junior School has its own identity, but is still very much part of Eltham College. It is the main prep school feeder into the Senior School and students transfer to the senior school without the need to take the entrance exam.
The college philosophy is to link academic achievement and discipline with the broader life of the school. For example, dedication in practising a musical instrument, teamwork in sports, learning lines for a play, working to promote environmental awareness; these are all skills and attitudes beneficial in the academic arena.
French and Mandarin are the curriculum languages of choice. Mandarin is the fastest-growing studied language in the world in recent years. Eltham College believes that enabling students to learn Mandarin will help them stay competitive, give them more options for careers and will open their eyes to a country of huge potential. Mandarin requires pupils to adapt not only to different sounds, but also to different shapes, linguistic rules and culture – all of which are the ideal stimuli for enquiring minds.
