Introduction

The Abbey School is an independent day school for girls in Reading, Berkshire. Founded in 1887, The Abbey is an International Baccalaureate World School with an impressive list of notable alumni, including historians, educationalist, social activists and novelists. [1]

Girls follow a broad and stimulating curriculum which allows them to maximise their academic abilities in the areas of maths, English, science, humanities, RE, computing, MFL, PE, music, drama, PSHE, art and DT.

They also get to participate in further activities after school, such as trips, workshops and residential visits, taking place throughout the year. The diverse choice of extracurricular pursuits includes gardening, judo, yoga, STEAM, debating, ballet and chess. [2]

The school’s holistic approach towards education places equal emphasis on ‘academic achievement, intellectual agility and emotional wellbeing’ and is supported by a highly committed staff who contribute to the culture of success at The Abbey.
