Open Events for St. Bede’s College 11 plus (11+) Entry
Open Events are held throughout the year. Regular monthly mini open events and the school’s annual open events take place on the first Thursday and Saturday of October. These events offer you and your child the best opportunity to meet staff and pupils, whilst taking a tour of the College’s departments. Booking is made via an online form available on the school’s website.
St. Bede’s College 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
The admissions process for Year 7 entry starts with registration, which should be done at least one year prior to entry.
You and your child will then be invited to meet the Headmaster and take a tour of the College.
Your child will also be expected to attend a Taster Day during which they will learn about the school’s standards and expectations as well as what it is like to be a pupil at St. Bede’s College.
Places are offered on the basis of your child’s performance in the entrance examination, their conduct during the Taster Day and current-school reports/references. The Headmaster makes the final decision about whether or not your child will be admitted.
Entrance assessment results and offers of places are usually made known in the first week of March. You will be expected to accept or decline the offer within the following twelve days.
St. Bede’s College 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
The school offers a limited number of means-tested bursaries of up to 50% of fees. Assistance is calculated on a sliding scale and is reassessed annually. The awarding of a bursary is discretionary and is based on a range of factors, including your income (from all sources), assets (including personal property) and other family circumstances.
The evaluation process includes a home visit. Offers of support are sent out in writing. To apply for financial assistance, you must fill out an application form, obtained from the Bursar.

The St. Bede’s College 11+ exam consists of the following papers:
- Verbal Reasoning
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess their logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
