Introduction
Pipers Corner School is an independent day school for girls in Great Kingshill, Buckinghamshire. Established in 1930 by Miss Jessie Cross as the Old Vicarage School, Richmond, it moved to its present site in 1946, following the purchase of the Pipers Corner property.
In Year 7, girls study English, food, mathematics, textiles, biology, technology, physics, ICT, chemistry, resistant materials, drama, MFL, art, music, dance, history, physical education, geography and religious studies.
Extra-curricular activities and clubs include the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Photography, International Film Club, ICT Club, School Magazine, TED Talks, Music Ensembles, Debating and Young Enterprise.
Through partnership with families and local and wider communities, Pipers Corner School ensures the personal development of girls whilst providing them with an exceptional learning environment. Pipers Corner School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
If you wish to register your daughter for entry, you should complete the school’s registration form, which can be accessed through this page, and pay the non-refundable fee of £150. She will then be invited to attend an interview with the Head, followed by entrance examinations which take place in November of the year preceding entry.
Based on your daughter’s performance in the examinations and interview and a quality report from her current school, she may receive an offer, typically communicated in January. To secure her place at Pipers Corner, you will be asked to pay a deposit of £1,000.
Pipers Corner School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
11+ scholarships are offered in the following areas: Academic ability, Art, Drama, Music and PE. These are valued at 5-10% of the school fees. Academic Scholarships are awarded to top-performing candidates in the entrance examinations.
Art Scholarships are awarded following an inspection of portfolio/project/practical tests and an interview with the Head of Department. Drama Scholarships are awarded on the basis of performance and/or participation in a series of workshop activities, as well as an interview with the Head of Drama.
Music Scholarships are offered on the grounds of successful performance on both primary and secondary instruments and an interview with the Director of Music. Sports Scholarship assessments include fitness testing and training sessions, as well as a short interview with the Director of Sport.
The Jessie Cross Award is a means-tested award, valued at up to 100% of fees and offered to a student with abilities in a number of areas. A standard means-tested bursary, which may also cover up to 100% of fees, is available to 11+ candidates from low-income families. Please note that, for this award, the maximum fee remission is only awarded in exceptional circumstances.

The Pipers Corner School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following tests:

- Mathematics
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your daughter’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
