Newcastle School for Boys 7 Plus (7+) Entrance Exam Information – Key Details
Table of Contents
Newcastle School for Boys, also known as NSB, is an independent school for boys in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. It was formed in 2005 following the merger of two schools: Ascham House School and Newlands Preparatory School.
In the Junior School, the educational provision is broad and inspiring, allowing children to academically develop at their own pace while exploring a range of non-academic disciplines. The curriculum covers English, mathematics and science, in conjunction with art, DT, humanities, MFL, ICT, RS, music and PSHE, offering a rich timetable aimed at maximising children’s potential.
After classes, students benefit from a wide-ranging programme of activities and further develop their resilience and communication skills, exploring passions and talents to the full. Their sporting, artistic and creative capacity is stretched as they engage in fencing, coding and African drumming, among others, trying out new things in parallel with forging firm friendships.
The school’s ethos is rooted in delivering a nurturing and supportive education which harnesses individual abilities. NSB maintains a reputation as a facility which provides boys with exceptional development in all key areas, recognised as ‘a strong feature of the North East’s educational landscape’.
