Introduction
Lingfield College is a co-educational independent school situated in Surrey. It was founded in 1940 by three members of the Roman Catholic School Sisters of Notre Dame as an all-girls school.
Year 7 pupils take lessons in maths, Science, English, drama, music, computer science, French, Spanish/German, PE and humanities.
Many students at Lingfield seize the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. The school organises expeditions and trips abroad such as the Geographical trip, History and Art expeditions, Language excursions and sports tours, including Football and Hockey to Holland and Cricket and Netball to Barbados.
At Lingfield, socially responsible values are promoted within a community that’s fully accepting of children from all backgrounds. Through well planned and differentiated lessons, a love of learning is instilled in all pupils. Lingfield College students leave school with widened horizons, prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Open Events for Lingfield College 11 Plus (11+) Entry
Open Days provide families with an insight into everything Lingfield has to offer through an extensive range of displays and demonstrations. During the events, you will also meet with existing parents, students and staff members.

Lingfield College 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Entry into Year 7 at Lingfield Senior School is based on your child’s performance in the entrance examinations, which take place in the January preceding entry. The admissions process also includes an informal interview with the Head and a reference from your child’s current school.
Offers of places are sent out in February and you will have two weeks to accept by returning a signed contract and paying the required deposit, which amounts to £700. The Year 7 Student Induction Day is held in June.
Lingfield College 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of strong academic ability and potential, as assessed throughout the evaluation procedure. Art, Drama, Music and Sports scholarships are also available. Your child can be awarded a scholarship in a maximum of two disciplines.
All scholarship applicants will attend examinations, practical assessments or auditions in January of the calendar year of entry. To learn if you can apply for a means-tested bursary on behalf of your child, please reach out to the school directly.
Lingfield College 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Lingfield College entrance assessment consists of the following papers:
- English comprehension & writing (1h)
- Mathematics (1h)
- Verbal Reasoning (1h)
The English paper focuses on both writing and comprehension skills, including spelling, grammar and inference.
The maths exam tests pupils’ problem-solving and arithmetic skills. The paper will include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess your child’s logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
