The Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM), part of Cambridge Assessment, produce 11+ exam papers which assess skills in Verbal, Non-Verbal and Numerical Reasoning.

A number of grammar schools opt for this particular exam provider. Some of the common characteristics of CEM 11+ exams include:

  • Questions presented in a mixed order within one test, rather than one paper per subject.
  • Short, time-pressured sections.
  • A strong focus on the breadth and depth of a student’s vocabulary.
  • Unique formats for how students need to mark their responses to certain questions.

The CEM 11+ exam helps schools determine a candidate’s potential and overall capacity to successfully respond to the secondary school curriculum.
