Introduction

Basic information: Cheadle Hulme School is a co-educational independent day school in Stockport. Founded in 1855, it has educated many prominent figures in the areas of politics, science and sports. [1]

Curriculum: The educational provision in the Junior School places strong emphasis on the core subjects of English and mathematics. It also covers a range of other disciplines, such as humanities, science, MFL and IT, which, alongside day and residential trips and other enrichment activities, aim to inspire pupils’ interest in the world around them.

Co-curricular: Clubs and extras are introduced very early on, including choir, coding, debating, chess, tennis, swimming and orchestra. Pupils are encouraged to take part in competitions and sporting fixtures in order to grow in independence and confidence, benefitting from an abundance of opportunities for all-round growth.

ISI Inspection report: The school received the highest possible grade across all areas during its latest ISI inspection. According to the report, children demonstrate high levels of appreciation of their own and other cultures and exhibit the qualities of natural decision makers who are respected for their unique ideas. [2]

The school’s ethos is committed to inclusivity, and focuses on values such as integrity, endeavour, resilience, compassion and contribution. This ethos, in conjunction with the flexible teaching provision, allows pupils to thrive. Children inspire each other yet remain competitive, achieving strong results across a broad spectrum of curricular and co-curricular opportunities.
