Bursaries are means-tested, and to apply for one, you should tick the appropriate box on the application form. Limited assistance with fees may be offered to parents whose income is less than £59,950.
The level of assistance is based on:
- Your child’s performance in the entrance exam;

The school also offers a small number of scholarships (Shaa scholarships) each year based on pupils’ outstanding performance in the entrance examination. A Shaa scholarship gives a reduction of £1,000 on each full year’s fees and is applied for the duration of your child’s first five years in the Senior School. The award is subject to an annual review.
At 11+, the school also awards Music scholarships worth up to 25% of the school fees. Application forms for this award can be accessed on this page. Please note that only applicants who have reached a high standard on one or more instruments will be considered.

Why do some of the recommendations above show me grammar school papers?
The main difference between independent and grammar school papers is the question format. Independent schools usually assess with standard format questions, which means students need to write out full answers. Grammar schools usually use multiple-choice format questions.
Whilst Stockport Grammar School is an independent school, they actually use the grammar school (multiple-choice) format for some of their exams, which is why they are included in the recommendations above.
Our practice tests aim to show what sort of questions were included in Stockport Grammar School 11+ past papers. The information provided about Stockport Grammar School was believed to be correct at the time of publishing. However, please be aware of future changes. We advise you to contact the school directly if you are unsure of anything. School contact details are provided within the post.
