Introduction

Caistor Grammar School is a selective school with academy status in Caistor, Lincolnshire. Established in 1630, it regularly features amongst the top-performing schools in the East Midlands. Caistor Grammar educates a mixed cohort of around 680 students in line with the motto Ever to Excel and has been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in its most recent inspection. [1]

The school’s extensive curriculum prepares pupils for a productive future, grounding them in firm foundations of all-round knowledge. Lessons for science, humanities, languages, social studies and many other disciplines are delivered effectively, aimed at boosting children’s academic understanding for the benefit of their future endeavours.

Extra-curricular clubs play a vital role in enhancing the vibrant character of the school community. They extend learning beyond the classroom and include a diverse array of activities, such as cricket, sewing & knitting, tennis, rounders and gardening. These, and many other opportunities, make significant contributions to pupils’ personal growth and teamwork skills, enriching the overall educational environment. [2]

To maximise the benefits of its provision, the school has implemented a house system that plays a central role in both academic and extra-curricular life. There are three main houses: Hansard, Ayscough and Rawlinson. Each house has its own identity and spirit, and students are encouraged to take pride in their house affiliation.

Fostering pupils’ well-being is a vital aspect of the Caistor Grammar educational strategy. Through the PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) programme, there is a focus on nurturing resilience, emotional intelligence and empathy amongst students. Such an environment encourages pupils to take a proactive approach to their own welfare, allowing them to both discover and enhance their unique skills. [3]
