8+ entry is based on performance in assessments and the quality of the references from your child’s current school.
Acceptance of places includes a payment of a deposit, refunded during your child’s last term at the school.
Dame Allan’s Junior School 8 Plus (8+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Bursaries are available and can be valued at up to 100% of fees. The majority of them are awarded to Year 7 applicants, yet, in exceptional cases, they are also offered to Year 3 entrants.
Their value will depend on availability of funds, as well as the level of financial need. Typically, a bursary valued at 100% of fees will be awarded to a family with a total income of less than £27,000 per year, with no capital assets other than their home.

- Mathematics
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
The English exam examines comprehension and writing skills, including inference, punctuation and spelling. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
